Hill House is one of my absolute favorite scary reads and I very much appreciate your review; I tend to look at it more as a straight supernatural story whereas you've done a great job of linking the events to Eleanor's deteriorating mental state. Another great Jackson novel, if you're interested, is We Have Always Lived In The Castle.
Loved your quotes, BTW. At first I thought it was a horror series but I must say it's a very emotional drama, plus the actors were really good I must say! I really liked it, the family story, the problems, each struggles and how those struggles chained them together not just emotionally but the lives they have lived apart. I'm very sure the book is a lot better and more detailed :)Stevenson Qhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12137070659644887162noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4043273283783489008.post-44819590745501058822020-06-10T19:15:24.650-04:002020-06-10T19:15:24.650-04:00I have not seen the 1960s film version of The Haun...I have not seen the 1960s film version of The Haunting of Hill House.Captivated Readerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15789205839634527219noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4043273283783489008.post-84917920620125037842020-06-10T16:36:23.607-04:002020-06-10T16:36:23.607-04:00Hi Captivated Reader - This is the only book by Ja...Hi Captivated Reader - This is the only book by Jackson that I have read.

I thought that the ending either had to be light or dark.
